Operation LAUNCH
What is it? Operation LAUNCH is our response to Jesus' great commission command to "go and make disciples of all nations." The acronym leads us into a six-pronged approach: Loving (Matthew 22:37-39), Acting (Matthew 5:16), Uniting (Nehemiah 4:16), Nurturing (1 Thessalonians 2:7), Compelling (2 Corinthians 5:14, 17) and Helping (Luke 10:33-36).
One of Jesus' final words is recorded in Acts 1:8 - "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (NIV) Each quarter, our Sunday School classes will cluster together to focus on Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and beyond. For 2011, our Jerusalem mission field is working in the greater Columbus area through Mission Columbus. Our Judea focuses on working with the Georgia Baptist Children's Home. To reach our Samaria, we are partnering with New City Church in Erlanger, Kentucky. Our world focus will include two mission trips to Jamaica and support for Faith and Deeds Ministries and Operation Mobilization.
